The World You’re In Is Perfect

This troupe of 9 top NYC musicians, headed by composer-arranger Ben Cockerham, creates some new spirited sounds. Their live performances are something else! Originals by Cockerham written for his group are interspersed with jazz classics, laced with stylings inspired by the incredible and sonorous Gil Evans-Miles Davis collaborations of the 1950s & '60s.

These tunes jell! Savoy In Color hits the highs, both solo and in ensemble. Take "Outside It Is Getting Dark," a deep groove number written by Cockerham, compelled by the hypnotic rhythm and repetition of the drums. On this background, the other players achieve textures and improvised solo statements of surprising ease… The World You're In Is Perfect.

SAVOY IN COLOR is:
Marty Bound (Lead trumpet, Flügelhorn), Joe Ancowitz (Trumpet), Bryan Davis (Trumpet), Geoff Countryman (Alto Sax), David Steinberg (Tenor Sax), Gary Pickard (Baritone Sax), Rick Parker (Trombone), Damian Peters (Bass), Dave Previ (Drums)
